To communicate the breadth of work at the Isabella Gardner Museum, the collection was laid out in grids grouped by floor and room. Users can zoom in and see the intricate details, or zoom out and take in the the variety of work. Audio and video recordings from the museum's archives add context and depth to the work.
Technically, this website was very challenging. The number of images at different resolutions was staggering. By loading in stylized low resolution versions of the work we were able to create a snappy experience and rarely used obtrusive preloaders. Additionally, every piece has an 2-way connection to a HTML version that allows the user to view the work however they want.
